For this week, your homework is made up of two parts. In the first part, you will practice the reading skill of MAIN IDEA. Ms. Mezzabotta and I chose an interesting article on snowboarding because of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
The second part of the homework is studying your second list of spelling words. I have written the list below. Your job is to practice spelling the words so you are ready for our spelling test on Thursday, February 20.
Remember, if you have ANY questions or doubts, I am available during almost all small and big plays. All you have to do is ask, and I will make sure you get my help!

At the beginning of our UOI Eureka, we watched this video. Then, you formed groups and tried to accomplish the challenge of creating a "machine" that could move your marble from one side of the lanchonette to the other.

On Friday, we watched a video from the Sochi Olympics. Afterwards, we discussed the main idea, the PYP attitudes the people were exhibiting (showing), and a connection between the video and your own life.
Here is the link in case you want to show it to your family, or watch it again.

This year, we will be using our blog for many pieces of G5 English. We will track your homework, post reading activities, and post projects.
However, before we need to set up some agreements (or rules) so we all know how we can use it. First, we will brainstorm agreements, then we will post them here so we have them for the rest of the year.
Let's start posting!
In G5, you are granted more freedoms but also more responsibility. In English class, we use our blog to communicate and track our work.
For your first interaction, your job is to add a comment to this post. You need to write one sentence about a fact you have learned during your invention inquiry. (Example: The glue used on a post-it was created by accident when the inventor was trying to build super strong glue for airplanes but failed.)
Now, you need to listen to the steps carefully. Write the steps in your journal as it is modeled so you can remember it next time. Start like this:
